OTTAWA – Foreign Minister David Emerson will represent Canada at the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, his office announced Monday.
“I am very much looking forward to attending the Games and supporting our Canadian athletes,” Emerson said in a statement. “It will be a tremendous experience to see them compete with the best in the world.”
Emerson will be accompanied at the Games by Helena Guergis, secretary of state for international trade, and will tour the Olympic Village and the Canada Olympic House, and meet with Canadian athletes and their families.
